A year on from Arsenal's last "EMBARRASSING" defeat at St James', their faltering title bid took another hefty whack in the hated Saturday lunchtime kickoff, as Anthony Gordon and Alex Isak channeled their inner Keith Gillespie and Les Ferdinand to score a goal of classic beauty.
Receiving the ball on the right in the 12th minute, Gordon effortlessly clipped in a first time ball of the kind you never see any more, curling between the two Arsenal centre backs and right onto the head of the arriving Isak to unerringly power home his third goal in a week.
And what a week it could prove to be in the grand scale of the season - the disappointing Chelsea league reverse forgiven and forgotten following the home cup revenge and a huge win today.
This was a good performance despite Arsenal dominating possession, and in truth it was a game of few chances once Newcastle took the early lead.
Following the start of the season where performances were poor but results were good, we then had a spell of poor performances and poor results.
Is now the time we can start putting good performances together with good results?.
